2003 CAMPA Carding

The CAMPA Carding system was developed to give financial assist to athletes who reach certain point standards. The athlete must have attended the most recent Summer Nationals to receive CAMPA Carding funds. Contact Ian Soellner directly for more information: iansurfs@hotmail.com

1.      Scores achieved at competitions other than Level 1 UIPM international competitions are adjusted to bring them into line with UIPM approved scores. For example when calculating scores for Carding at such competitions as the Canadian Championships, US Nationals, or US Training Camps a deduction of 10% from the fencing score, 10°,io from the riding score when the height of the fences does not meet UIPM standards will be imposed. The swim scores will be adjusted down 40 points if a short-course pool is used.

The running scores are adjustment based on a set standard. The adjusted men's run score for a given competition is established by taking the average of the highest ten running scores (top 30%) and subtracting that from 1150 points to determine additions or subtractions. The women's adjusted run scores use the same system with a base score of 1000 points.

  1. All scores achieved at recognized UIPM International Competitions are accepted, with approved UIPM adjustments.

3.      The qualifying period for the A and B Cards is linked to the financial year adopted by Sport Canada, the COA and CAMPA, and the funding is available for the athlete for two years (the second year being subject to the athlete's being in training and providing evidence of such). Athletes are reminded that A and B Carding were set up for international competitions. If an athlete does not compete internationally in any fiscal year (April 1 - March 31), he/she will forfeit the card for that fiscal year but retain eligibility for the next fiscal year.

4.      A-Carding, Value $1500, is awarded only on the basis of results achieved at recognized UIPM Sr. international competitions, after UIPM adjustments have been made. Other competitions such as CAMPA Nationals, US Training Camps do not qualify for A Carding regardless of the score achieved. It is to be spent on international travel only.

A-Card Performance Standard: 5100 points (men) 5000 (women), adjusted scores, at a UIPM Sr. Qualifying Competition during the period from April 1 -March 31 (Fiscal year #1). The athlete may receive the funding for the competitions they attended in this fiscal year (#1), and will be eligible to receive the funding for the following fiscal year (#2). If the athlete does not claim the card in either fiscal year they forfeit that portion of the card.

5.      B-Carding, Value $1000, is awarded on the basis of results (adjusted) achieved at either recognized UIPM Sr. Qualifying Competitions or the National Championships. It is to be spent on international travel only.

B-Card Performance Standard: 4900 points (men), 4800 (women), adjusted scores, at a UIPM Qualifying Competition or 5000 points (men) 4900 (women), adjusted scores, at the Canadian National Championships during the period from April 1 - March 31 (Fiscal year #1). The athlete may receive the funding for the competitions they attended in this fiscal year (#1), and will be eligible to receive the funding for the following fiscal year (#2). If the athlete does not claim the card in either fiscal year they forfeit that portion of the card. (Running will not be adjusted at the National Championships unless the course is extremely slow)

  1. C-Carding, value $500, is for Junior athletes only. It is awarded on the basis of adjusted results (running will not be adjusted at the National Championships unless the course is extremely slow) achieved at Jr. or Sr. international competitions or at the National Championships. It is to be spent primarily on training camps, secondarily to upgrade equipment and thirdly for national and international travel. Athletes can be A-cards one year and B-cards the next, but they cannot go back from B to C.

C-Card Performance Standard: Juniors achieving 4500 points (men), 4400 (women), adjusted scores, (running will not be adjusted at the National Championships unless the course is extremely slow) at the Canadian National Championships or an International competition between April 1 - March 31 (Fiscal year #1). The athlete may receive the funding for the competitions they attended in this fiscal year (#1). To retain the card for a second year the athlete must score 4700 (men), 4600 (women), adjusted score, at the National Championships or an International competition. To achieve a C-Card for a third year the athlete must score 4900 (men), 4800 (women), adjusted score at the National Championships. If the athlete scores 4900 (men), 4800 (women) at an international competition they qualify for B Carding.
